Sustainability

A material extracted, cut and finished, not manufactured. No firing, no clinker, no coatings. A service life measured in centuries, and full reusability at the end of it.

No firing, no clinker

Ceramic is fired at 1,200 °C; cement clinker at 1,450 °C. Granite and slate are cut cold. The embodied energy difference is structural, not marginal.

A century of service, minimum

A slate roof lasts 100+ years; granite paving outlives the streets around it. Divide impact by real service life and stone wins by an order of magnitude.

Iberian origin, European markets

Our stone travels from Iberia to the UK, Belgium and France, not across the world. Shorter routes, documented loads, full containers.

100% reusable material

A granite sett or kerb can be lifted, cleaned and relaid as it is, with no processing and no loss of performance. It is standard practice in historic centres and public works: the same stone, another century of service.

  • We prioritise producers that recover water and manage quarry waste

  • Packing sized to the load: wood reused where routes allow

  • Off-cuts and lower grades go to aggregates and landscaping, not landfill

  • Documentation is digital first; paper only where customs demand it

We do not yet publish a per-order carbon figure, and not all our producers have formal environmental certification. We prefer to say so, and to keep choosing partners who move in that direction, rather than print a leaf on a brochure.
